Gingerbread at Moonglow By: Deobrah Garner - 5 out of 5 Stars

Gingerbread at Moonglow by Deborah Garner is such a warm and feel good story! It started off right away with a warm and comfy beginning that made me want to cuddle up in my blanket and read all night! I felt so snug reading this and truly enjoyed it! The Timberton Hotel is a hotel in Timberton, Montana, that is having a big gingerbread making celebration. Most of the guests have been visiting this hotel for years, so you get a feel of a tight nit group! I loved imagining decorating a huge gingerbread house and loved how all the characters seemed like old friends of my own! The characters are lovely, and Mist makes it a point to make each guest that comes through feel at home and welcomed!

I love Christmas and this story fits right into my vision of how Christmas should be! It’s filled with joy, love and friendship! This book can be read as a standalone, but I plan on going back and reading all the Moonglow books! If you love Christmas, you will LOVE this book! You will get all the delightful Christmas feels in this read!

NEW RELEASE…. The small town of Timberton, Montana, boasts an ambiance of near-magical proportions during the Christmas season, due in no small part to resident artist and chef Mist's mysterious way of working small miracles in people's everyday lives. Each year, return guests and new arrivals mingle with local townsfolk to enjoy companionship, exquisite decor, and exceptional cuisine at The Timberton Hotel. As the aromas of ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and molasses mix with heartfelt camaraderie and sweet romance, guests share reflections on family, friendship, and life. Although decorating the outside of a gingerbread house may prove easier than deciding what goes inside, no one leaves Timberton without renewed hope for the future. The Moonglow Series... But the small town of Timberton, Montana, hasn't been the same since resident chef and artist, Mist, arrived, bringing a unique new age flavor to the old western town. When guests check in for the holidays, they bring along worries, fears and broken hearts, unaware that Mist has a way of working magic in people's lives. Old-fashioned time spent together, exquisite food, conversation and a snowball or two offer guests a chance to trade sadness for hope. One thing is certain: no matter how cold winter's grip is on each guest, no one leaves Timberton without a warmer heart.

Add in a hint of romance and there's more than snow in the air around the small Montana town. Elegant decor and exquisite cuisine from resident artist and chef, Mist, form a backdrop to much needed camaraderie, bringing strangers and friends together. This Life I Live By Rory Feek - 5 out of 5 Stars

To say I was over the moon excited when I was asked to review this book is an understatement!  As a blogger for almost two decades, I can appreciate a beautiful blog being turned into a book.  I follow Rory's blog and his family's journey pretty much from the start, so I was blessed, humbled and honored to be chosen to read and review this most precious book!!!  It certainly didn't disappoint me....if I could rate this book 100 stars, I would! Beautifully written with a humble and peaceful heart.

If you don't know who Rory is, I'm positive you have heard at least one of his famous songs that he has written.  My favorite one is Clay Walker's "Chain of Love".  His gift of music has touched lives all over and I know this book will do the same!

If you have followed This Life I Live Blog, then you will be happy to hear that this book does not revisit the posts on his blog.  You get a whole new glimpse into the life of Rory and Joey, mainly Rory's childhood.  Reading how he grew up and the struggles he endured to the amazing man he is and beautiful marriage he had with Joey, gives me hope.  It gives me hope in renewal and restoration of the heart.  I caught myself laughing, crying and laughing as I flipped through each page as Rory became more and more vulnerable to his readers.  As I got towards the end, I was in awe of God's amazing beauty and ability to orchestrate our lives and our relationships if we allow Him to.

Rory and Joey's love is an inspiration and a hope fountain!  I'm thankful for couples like this who exhibit the true nature of what God intended marriage to be!  You can purchase This Life I Live: One Man's Extraordinary, Ordinary Life and the Woman Who Changed It Forever on Amazon!  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

***I received this book free from the publisher through Thomas Nelson. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255

Secret Santa By Juliana Haygert - 4 out of 5 Stars

I wasn't sure what to expect as this was my first Christmas Fiction book to read, besides the Christmas classics, and I must say that I LOVED it!  It was a short read but very entertaining.  Natasha is a young lady who has had to endure a lot of pain and loss since she was a child.  These traumas led to her making mistakes that bothered her.  Shame, loneliness and pain were all she ever received for Christmas.  Until she met Jason.....

I love that this story teaches us to not judge a book by it's cover....or reputation.  We never know what somebody has endured so we should always take the time to get to know a person's heart and who they really are.  Actions are sometimes reflections of our pain.

I enjoyed this book and happy to now be a Christmas fiction story reader!!!!  Juliana had me hanging on every word waiting for the next thing to happen. Loved it!

You can get a digital copy of Secret Santa for free on Amazon!!!!!

Confessions Of A Trauma Junkie By Sherry Lynn Jones - Five Stars

The health industry, such an amazing and brave profession to go into. I admire all first responders and nurses in this field. They exhibit a beautiful heart and calling that is specifically gifted to them. It's a gift that I have always admired from a distance but was never called into it, which is why I loved reading Confessions Of A Trauma Junkie.

This book takes you into the day of the life of a nurse paramedic. This book will make you cry, hold on to your seat and at times giggle a little as Sherry brings some humor into this book from time to time. You will find yourself sharing in these experiences and emotions that come with medical trauma. You will read about life on both sides of the gurney and prison bars and both the professional and personal emotions from these view points. As you turn the pages, you are taken into unique experiences as a first responder.

This book elevated my respect in this field. Thank you Sherry for sharing your insights that brought out many different emotions as I continued to read! Beautifully written and definitely a page turner!

About the author
Author, teacher, and perspective changer Diane Wing, M.A. enjoys exploring the mysteries of life and the way that people experience themselves and the world around them. A phenomenologist at the core, Diane uses a variety of techniques combined with discovering unique patterns experienced by her clients to reveal a deeper understanding of the self and to shift their perspective enabling them to move past obstacles that keep them stuck.

Diane Wing is dedicated to helping people get grounded and trust themselves, so they can live a peaceful and fulfilling life of joyful self-expression. She inspires others and teaches them to safely tap into the energies around them to turn anxiety into tranquility. Her clients are those who are ready to stop struggling in their personal life so they can feel their best.

Wing sees connections between things that seem disparate to others and can help you see their significance in your life. She’s an idea person who helps you shift your perspective to see yourself and your life in a whole new way and is a master at bringing magick into the everyday. She wants to live in a world where people feel inspired and motivated to evolve beyond their current way of being. As a Perspective Changer and Blockage Buster, she’s a wiz at helping people find their Inner Magick to help them be happy in the present while creating their ideal future.

To that end, Diane Wing created a body of work focused on knowing the self at a deep level in order to build self-trust and self-confidence. Her books, both dark fantasy fiction and enlightening non-fiction, hold lessons based in Universal and Magickal Law and energetic consciousness. Her games, Pathways and Insight Stones®, are systems of metaphysics designed to facilitate self-discovery, develop intuitive ability, and to enhance self-awareness. The emphasis of her school, Wing Academy of Unfoldment, and of her radio show, Wing Academy Radio, helps students and listeners learn ways to take metaphysical and personal development concepts and apply them to everyday life in their own distinct way. It’s about going deeper and seeing the patterns of your life.

Wing’s books create a transformational experience for the reader while incorporating a bit of the unexpected. Many say that her fiction has a sense of Karmic justice rendered within the realm of the unknown and that her non-fiction brings about a heightened awareness of the self and the world to enhance understanding of our own internal transformations. According to Diane Wing, “Ever since I was little, the world felt magickal. [Magick with a “k” is used to differentiate the magic of an illusionist or stage magician from the magick that includes your intuitive abilities and tapping into the flow of the Universe). The world was beautiful and mysterious, filled with things to learn and experience. The path led me to become a lifetime student of metaphysics, mysticism, magick, and spirituality and to achieve a Master’s degree in psychology…and it all shows up in my writing. You never know what’s waiting around the bend.

“The world still feels magickal to me; every act of nature, every energetic exchange, every new discovery is perceived through the eyes of wonder. I now understand that self-knowledge is the key to all magickal operations; the discovery of our own Inner Magick is essential to living in concert with the Universe. We are the Magician, as in tarot, orchestrating and creating life in accordance with our true self.” Diane is an avid reader, bibliophile, lover of trees, and a lifelong learner. She and her husband are pet parents to a sweet little Shih Tzu.

The Happiness Perspective By Diane Wing - Five Stars

Are you in a season of wondering how to be happier? Are you waiting for life to be "perfect" so that you can finally feel happiness and joy? If that sounds like you, then you must read this book. If you are a spiritual person in any way, then you will find that this book helps you to see life from a perspective that changes it all!

I started reading this book during a time of lots of change. My husband and I just moved cross country from Texas to Washington, I hated the new job I was working and I was missing my family and friends back home terribly. I was also going through some time of healing from multiple miscarriages and some other disappointments along the way. Needless to say, I found myself battling lots of depression and grasping at moments of joy. Thank goodness I am blessed with an amazing and rather humorous husband who does a GREAT job of keeping me laughing.....but something was missing within myself. When he wasn't around, I felt major sadness. I know my happiness shouldn't be dependent on somebody else being around me, so I knew something was wrong.

Over the past week, I have experienced amazing transformation and breakthrough in my life. This book has been a part of that transformation. I experienced my own spiritual moment with God along with reading this book and I couldn't be more thankful for Diane's willingness to write a book that could help so many people.

Diane starts this book off with encouraging her readers to check in with themselves and with their own thoughts before taking anybody's advice, including hers. Immediately, I trusted her. I knew when I read that sentence that she cares about her readers and that her writings are a mission! I'll share with you just a few of the "life changer" quotes that resonated with me.

"Perception is reality, and so the way you see and define something determines your feelings, behaviors, and interpretations of it."

"Reject relationships or circumstances that are unhealthy for you and that create energy drains."

"Maintaining a false self is hard work and a recipe for unhappiness."

"By understanding your belief system and how it aligns with your core self, you understand your true nature and stand in it in every circumstance."

Those are just a few of some of the golden nuggets in this book. Diane's writing is articulate and brilliant. Some might call it a little "new agey" but I call it wise! She does talk about the Universe as a being. If you do not believe in the Universe as a guiding figure (as I do not) then read it from your own spiritual perspective. Even though my spiritual guidance comes from a Heavenly Father, I was still able to get from this book, the happiness perspective. I understood my own belief system and how it aligns with my core self. :)

This book is a must read!

Warfare Praying By Mark I. Bubeck - 5 Stars

Warfare Praying is a must read for every Christian. This book breaks down what it means to be a mighty warrior of prayer! There are 4 parts to this book and each part is extremely rich with wisdom. I had a hard time putting it down and when I did put it down, I immediately felt a move in my spirit to pray and lean more into God. The four parts are The Supremacy Of Christ, The Work Of The Holy Spirit, The Whole Armor Of God (my favorite one) and The Weapon Of Prayer. Mark does a great job of connecting each of these together and bringing you to a place of wanting to pray with a deeper purpose.

The compelling way Mark Bubeck writes about prayer and going into battle with God challenged me to go into prayer with a different perspective. We all want spiritual triumph and this book helped me navigate through what that looks like in my prayer life. If you are a Christian struggling with prayer, in the midst of a spiritual battle or simply just want to have a stronger prayer life then I highly recommend this book! It's one that you won't be able to put down!

A Path To Restoration By Lois Brittell PhD - 4 Stars

This study guide was a beautifully written piece and had me in prayer each time I picked it up to read it. I couldn't help but to desire more intimate time with Him after each chapter. I wanted to both thank Him and lay in His peaceful arms. A Path To Restoration is about understanding what God has done for us, what He asks of us and what restoration in Him looks like.

This study guide challenged me to think more about my relationship with God and how I view Him. It helped me to understand how loving and welcoming our God is. This book definitely pushed me to more intimacy with Him and created a certain level of thanksgiving to my Lord and Savior. It opened my eyes to who He is and who we are in Him. Turning The Tables By Teresa Giudice - 3 Stars

I am a HUGE fan of Housewives Of New Jersey and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Teresa Giudice, so you can imagine my excitement when I was sent her book to review. I couldn't wait to read about her journey of heart change and life experience as she made that dreaded transition. Where I did enjoy reading a little bit more about her perspective of going to prison and reading about her love for her family, I have to say I was a little disappointed in this book. Don't get me wrong, it was still interesting to read about her inner thoughts of going to prison and I shed a few tears at times when she wrote about being away from Joe and her children. I mean, I cannot imagine being taken away from my husband and children (fur babies, I only have fur babies). However, I would have liked more insight to her inner life change as opposed to hearing every detail about the prison life. I wanted to hear more about HOW prison CHANGED her from the inside out as opposed to what she ate, what she watched on TV etc. It got boring half way in. I for sure know more about prison life now but not much more on who Teresa is after her prison sentence.

I still love Teresa Giudici but just barely like the book.

66 Ways God Loves You By Jennifer Rothschild - 5 Stars

-

This book.....OH, this book! I was moved, inspired and fascinated. This book reminded me that His love and grace is written all over the Bible! I couldn't quit talking about this book with my Women's Bible Study! I encouraged each of them to purchase it! Thank you Jennifer, you once again moved me and inspired my heart! This world needs to be reminded more of His love and this book does just that!

So many parts of this book completely wrecked me! I needed the reminders and I didn't even know how much! On page 52 Jennifer describes the Book of Ezra and it moved me in ways I can't even describe. After I miscarried, we decided to honor our baby by naming him. We named him, Ezra. Her opening to Ezra was, "In Ezra God's Persistent Love Restores Me". She then writes about Ezra and the Israelites and the slow process of restoration after the temple and the city of Jerusalem had been destroyed. Even through the slow process, we have to remember that God loves us and is rebuilding and restoring. After our miscarriage, I felt lost and broken. Since then, we have struggled with infertility and was reminded in this book of God's love during the restoration and rebuilding process. It's so easy to forget when you're in the middle of it but thankfully, He never forgets us!

This book is such a good way to understand what each book of the Bible is about and how God's love is exhibited in each of them. It can also be given to somebody who has a hard time understanding the Bible. I'm certainly not saying it should be read instead of but definitely in addition to the Bible. It's a good reminder of the love presented in each book! This is a must read and a book to keep on your nightstand for frequent revisits. Five stars all the way!

Holiday Fun and Love

I truly enjoyed this holiday season! Hubby started off our HollyDay season with an early Christmas gift! Meet Holly Tacos Addis.....yes, her name is Holly Tacos. I picked her first name for obvious reasons and hubby was given the freedom to pick her middle name and he picked.....Tacos. Oddly, the name fits her!

I then kicked off Thanksgiving with my Devoted Women Life Group with our annual Friendsgiving dinner! We had a black dress and pearls girl's night and had SO MUCH FUN!!! I adore these gals so much!

Before heading to El Paso for Thanksgiving, I enjoyed some quality time at Holiday Happenings with my best friend from Junior High, Margo! We did some talking, taste testing and SHOPPING!!!!!!

The hubby and I then headed on to El Paso to spend it with family! That was SO much fun! We spent time with my sweet mother-in-law and really enjoyed spending our first holiday with hubby's side of the family and sweet Holly got to meet her cousin Copper!

Upon returning from El Paso, some of my lovely friends volunteered with me at the Scholastic Warehouse to collect books for my Christmas Library Reading at Mahon Library! We earned $200 dollars.....AND we had a blast doing it!

The next weekend, I read to children at Mahon Library! We had so much fun and each child got to take a book home! My sweet friend Crystal led us in Christmas carols and the kids LOVED it so much! It was truly a fun morning!!!

I can't forget to tell you about the night before my reading.... pajama movie night with the girls!!!!!

December 14th, I said my "see ya laters" to co-workers and volunteers as the 14th was my last day working on staff at Trinity Church! It was a bitter sweet day as I have a HUGE passion for Life Groups and ministry BUT, God is moving my husband and I into a new season and it is time for me to focus on home, marriage and most importantly God. The busyness was taking me away from Him and even though I was working in ministry, sometimes I felt so disconnected and far away from Him. This next season will be a season of healing and restoration! I can't wait to see what He has in store for Darin and I! He will never ask us to let something we love go unless He has something even more amazing in store!

The next day, I took hubby on a SURPRISE date!!!!! A surprise viewing of Star Wars Rogue!!!!! He LOVED IT! Wife points were earned!

Our next stop was an Ugly Christmas Sweater on Friday night at our neighbor's place! Talk about FUN!!!! Hubby got SUPER festive with his!

That following Sunday I was blessed to be a part of Her Legacy's Mommy and Me Tea Party! I was asked to play Snow White and I'm so glad I said "yes"! Talk about a blessing! We got to love on kiddos and make them feel like princesses!!!!! It was SO MUCH FUN! Not to mention I got to do this with two of my best friends, Dilyn and Darcy AKA Sleeping Beauty and Pocahontas!

The next Tuesday, we celebrated Margo's birthday with dinner and drinks and really enjoyed the girl time and enjoyed celebrating this sweet girl!!!

The next day, I had my last Christmas Library Reading. I was a little sad to be reading my last Christmas story but I made sure to enjoy the moment!!!

The next night we helped pack a Uhaul up for one of our Devoted Women who moved to Dallas the next morning. A bitter sweet moment....it was sad to say "see ya later" but I KNOW God has amazing things ahead for her!!!

Then finally, CHRISTMAS!!!!!! It was my first Christmas to not have to work since being married so I really enjoyed the weekend with hubby! We have spent so much time together this holiday season that my heart is just fluttering with so much happiness and joy!!!!! We haven't spent this much time together in our whole marriage! God knew what He was doing when He asked me to let go of my job! Being a wife is SO much fun!!! I feel like I'm JUST now being able to really enjoy it! Thank You Jesus!!!!

As you can tell, we had a VERY BUSY Holiday season but it was SO MUCH FUN!!!!! So many memories were made with amazing family and friends.... and so many exciting things in store for us!!! I can't wait for a NEW YEAR!!!!!
